About

Our family returned to their homeland Turkey from Saudi Arabia, where they resided during the Ottoman Empire’s retreat in the early 1800s, and settled in Konya. Our grandfather, Hacı Ali Efendi, five generations ago, was involved in wheat, food, legumes and grain trade in Konya during those years. Our great grandfather, Yusuf Efendi, also continued his commercial life in Konya during the same 1800s. Don’t be fooled by the fact that our company logo states that our foundation year is 1902. Our real entry into commercial life was in the 1800s; however, the fact that commercial records were not kept regularly during those years and that the ups and downs coincided with war and armistice years prevented us from referring to those years, which presented a rather blurry picture in our commercial history. For this reason, we preferred to attribute our commercial activities to the 1900s, which has a clearer historical past. Our grandfather, Contractor Kara Mehmet, who was known and known by almost everyone who lived in Konya in the early 1900s, was a merchant who spoke four foreign languages (Arabic, Persian, French and English) in addition to wheat and food trade. While he continued his activities in the 1900s with his office and sales office where the fountain of the Aziziye Mosque was located, and also with three warehouses, he continued on his way by adding contracting to the food business simultaneously with the foundation of the Republic. As the years passed, it became necessary to open up a new commercial field in addition to food and contracting, and while the calendars showed the 1950s, my father Nazım Mutluer made a start in the sector with the historical Selimiye Bakery on the corner of the old Grape Market. Selimiye Bakery actually came about when we converted our business in the Old Grape Market into a bakery. In fact, our entry into the bread sector; when you consider that my grandmother's father was engaged in bakery fifty years ago, it means that we have opened up to a field not too far from us. As the 1950s passed by like this, we took over Cumhuriyet Bread Factory, which was the most well-known bakery in Konya at the time, and opened our second factory in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s, we opened Mutlu Bread Factory and MutluoÄŸlu Bread Factory in Ankara with the most modern equipment and tools of the time, and we experienced the pride of serving our capital city in this sector. In addition, we added our fifth production facility with the Silifke-TaÅŸucu BaÅŸak Bread Factory. In order for you to compare our position in the sector and ours in those years, let us give an example about employment: “While it was very difficult to employ 30-40 employees in the largest factories of the private sector in Konya industry in the early 70s, more than three hundred trained personnel could be employed by Nazım Mutluer in the five bread production facilities mentioned above and other contracting works.” By the 80s, the bread sector had begun to turn into one of the areas where politicians hunted for votes. As a company, we transferred the Selimiye, Cumhuriyet, Mutlu, MutluoÄŸlu and BaÅŸak Bread Factories in those years and combined our labor and capital in a single factory under the roof of Mutluerler Bread and Food Industry, which we newly established in 1984. We had built the largest factory in Turkey, which is fully equipped, the most modern and the largest factory using Tunnel Technology in the private sector, in accordance with the procedures.. Despite the difficulties stemming from the procedure and the law, in those years when we quickly established our establishment and moved on to the production phase, we were meeting 50 percent of Konya's bread needs with 120-130 personnel. In our known business life of nearly two hundred years, in 2014, in addition to the bread segment, we continue to serve our fellow citizens with over one hundred and fifty types of bakery products, a central facility with a closed area of 3 thousand m2 and an open area of 2 thousand 650 m2 and three branches, a portfolio of over two hundred and fifty dealers and customers, and a distinguished staff exceeding one hundred.
