LEVEL CROSSINGS AND THEIR TYPES
A level crossing (other names include grade crossing, railway crossing, train crossing,...) is an intersection where a railway line crosses a road or path at the same level, as opposed to the railway line.
Level crossings are divided into two groups: controlled and uncontrolled.
Controlled level crossings are divided into three groups according to their controlling types: automatic barrier crossings, barrier crossings operated by railway staff and barrier crossings operated via automatic warning blinkers (flashing lights).
